Members Overwhelmingly Vote To Authorize Strike
Teamsters at Washington Gas have voted by 97 percent to authorize a strike. With 80 percent of the membership voting, the count was 462-13 in favor of authorizing a strike.
Contract Update - May 25, 2021
We came very close to reaching an agreement on a new contract today. But management made that impossible by demanding that we choose between a lowball wage offer or healthcare cuts. As a result, we will be proceeding with a strike authorization vote on Wednesday and Thursday.
Strike Authorization Vote - When & Where To Vote
This Wednesday May 26th and Thursday, May 27th, Local 96 members will take a Strike Authorization Vote at each station.
Report to your station for voting at least 30 minutes before your start time.
*Ballot boxes will close on Thursday at 7:30AM sharp for counting, there will be no late voting.

Hundreds of Members rallied on Thursday to tell Washington Gas that we're united for a fair contract. Management definitely took notice, but they are still not getting the message. Management continues to hold on to their demands to gut our job security language and No Layoffs protections.
