October Monthly Membership Meeting Details

For October, we will again be hosting our monthly membership meeting as a Zoom call, on Tuesday, October 20th, at 6 PM. Details below.

The proposed Local Union Election Plan to nominate and elect delegates to the IBT Convention to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June of 2021 was submitted tot he Election Supervisor on July 27, 2020.

We are canceling our August General Membership Meeting, again due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. We will keep membership informed of the next meeting.

Members Approve WGL Contract Extension

Local 96 members have overwhelmingly approved a one-year extension of our union contract with Washington Gas that delivers three extra months of wage increases.

 

May Membership Meeting Canceled; Rescheduled to June 16

We are canceling our May membership meeting due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. We will be rescheduling our June meeting for Tuesday, June 16th at the same location in Virginia—the Courtyard by Marriott Springfield, located at 6710 Commerce St, Springfield, VA 22150.

New Deadline to Vote on the Contract Extension

The Executive Board has extended the contract voting period to make sure that all Local 96 members have the opportunity to vote on the contract extension.

The COVID-19 pandemic has slowed mail delivery and most members have not received their voting packet.

The new deadline to vote is Tuesday, May 5th at 12PM. Members will vote online or by telephone but you need to be get an authorization code first.

Local 96 members will be voting on a 12-month contract extension that includes 15 months of wage increases and extensive COVID-19 protections. Here’s how the vote will work.
