Shenandoah Bargaining Update- June 8
Your Union Negotiating Committee met with Management on Tuesday and Thursday. Serving on the Committee are Head Shop Steward Brian Pingley, Shop Steward Jeremy Ebersole, Local 96 President Wilder Reed, and Local 96 Vice-President J.T. Bowers.
Discussions focused on contract language changes. Wages will be on the table next Tuesday.
Juneteenth: A Holiday and its Lessons
Juneteenth has been signed into law as a federal holiday. Celebrated on June 19, it marks the day that slavery ended in Galveston, Texas in 1865—a full two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation making slavery illegal.
Members Vote to Approve Our Contract
Local 96 members voted YES to ratify our contract by 80% in a vote of 364 to 86, with 82% voter turnout. This victory belongs to the Contract Action Team and the entire Local 96 membership.

The proposed contract and additional materials are posted here for members to review, including a summary of the proposed changes, the new wage chart, and Blue Cross PPO changes. Finally, we have posted a copy of the complete proposed contract with additions and deletions. Additiionally, here are calculations on projected raises and health benefits changes here.
We will discuss and answer questions during the Membership Meeting on Tuesday at 6pm. The zoom information for Tuesday's meeting will be posted on Monday.
Contract Vote Info & Membership Meeting
Local 96 will hold a membership meeting to review the Tentative Agreement on Tuesday at 6pm. Voting on the contract will begin immediately after the meeting on Tuesday night and be conducted online and by phone through Ballot Point.
The entire proposed contract is posted on the website, so that members have a chance to review the Tentative Agreement before voting on it.
Preparing for Contract Vote-June 2021
The Bargaining Committee is reviewing and finalizing the proposed contract language for a vote by the membership.
The contract vote will be conducted electronically. You will get a complete copy of the proposed contract and we will hold a CAT team meeting and a membership meeting before the contract vote.
